Hello,
This year's AAM Virtual Meeting is highlighting the ongoing national conversation around museums' role in championing challenging but critical conversations. To fulfill my Master's dissertation requirement, I am seeking research participants to lend their voice to the discussion on contested histories in museums.
In particular, I want to understand whether museum staff consider museums' work as "neutral", political, and/or advocative using contested Confederate statuary as a case study. Although the topic has been addressed by media, civic leadership, and museum organizations, no information is available on the local level; this research is intended to give voice to individuals who make interpretive and educational decisions in museums.
Participation will include an informal 30-60 minute virtual interview. Your responses to the questions will be kept confidential. Each interview will be assigned a number code to help ensure that personal identifiers are not revealed during the analysis and write up of findings. Participants will be asked to contribute individual perspectives independent of institutional affiliation, and the findings will not be used for publication.
If you are interested in participating or have questions, please reply here or email me at a.clark.18@ucl.ac.uk
A detailed information sheet is attached.
Thanks!
Allison
