Our museum, the Jule Collins Smith Museum of Fine at Art Auburn University, is collecting information for a presentation. Our director and curator began an annual giving society in recognition of our cornerstone collection, Advancing American Art. Our annual giving society is charged with raising money to contribute to the growth of growing the permanent collection in a particular area. This annual giving society has been in existence for 10 years. We are interested in creative ways on how museums develop acquisition funds, and whether or not crowdsourcing comes in to play as a means of building a new donor base. Our model involves annual gifts beginning at ~$1,000 mark. We bring in works to remain on view for 2-3 months and pool funds.
