  • 1.  Buttons vs Stickers vs Wrist Bands

    Posted 01-26-2017 09:38 AM

    Hello all,

We're in the process of deciding what method of entry we will use for our upcoming busy seasons.  Currently we have admission buttons but they do not always stay on and are easily handed off to others wanting to come in for free.  I've heard comments that wrist bands can be a bit tedious and time consuming to put on visitors, along with the germ factor.  I personally prefer stickers but some of our staff are concerned about the safety of our art with kids placing stickers on paintings, which apparently happened once in the past when we tried stickers.

Does anyone know what type of admission entry most art museums are using?

    Many thanks for your feedback,

    Laura

Perhaps disposable paper or Tyvek wristbands. They come in dozens of colors and styles, are inexpensive, and you could randomly assign a color or design for a given day.

First page of a Google search gives several suppliers, none of which I've dealt with personally:

We use tyvek wristbands, 5 different colors so we rotate them day to day. Our staff have become quite proficient at putting them on quickly and we move on average 1100 people through our site a day during the season. Prior we did have buttons and yes they would loose them or hand them off to other visitors. Hope this helps.

We opened in February 2007 and started with tyvek wristbands.  We also had a number of colors - One for general admission, other colors for special events, etc.  We also have allowed certain groups, that rent space for certain types of presentations, to use their tickets for admission.  In these cases, we have the group include an up charge for museum admission.  While we have stopped wristbands for general museum admission, wristbands are still used for special exhibits, events, etc that have a separate admission.  We have had a number of local companies have a company day at the museum and pay for employees admission or a flat rate.  When that happens we will either have a list of employees attending or use a  company id card, we issue a wristband to them.  We have stopped using them for general admission.
