Sharing museum policies regarding access to art in storage for outside scholars/researchers, etc.

All, we are currently reviewing our policies regarding opening our art storage for researchers/scholars.  For instance, how many works will we pull?  How do we approve requests (do they need to be working on a significant project/publication/research?).  Do we allow outside visitors to handle our collection objects, or do we do all the handling, turning, etc.  What is the deadline to make a request (2 weeks before their intended visit, etc.?).

If any of you have internal guidelines you would be willing to share, that would be helpful.

    Thank you!
