Dear colleagues,
The Portal to the Public Implementation Manual and Catalog of Professional Development Elements is a resource for organizations looking to connect their communities to local science through meaningful, face-to-face conversation with local scientists and other STEM professionals. The Portal to the Public team is excited to share a new, updated version of the Manual that includes new activities and lessons learned from the past 10 years that apply to a broad range of institution types. The updated Manual is now available as a downloadable pdf, free for a limited time.
The updated Manual includes:
- A framework, recommended strategies, and tools for adopting Portal to the Public at your own organization
- Step-by-step instructions for 27 training activities that prepare scientists to have conversations and create hands-on activities based on their area of work, including 9 new training activities
- Suggestions specific to a wide range of informal learning organizations, including science centers, zoos, aquariums, university outreach groups, and research centers
- Sample recruitment, marketing, program development, and evaluation materials from member sites
The Portal to the Public Network (PoPNet) is now led by the Institute for Learning Innovation. Learn more about ILI and PoPNet on our website.
