We have a local university interested in developing a program in museum / informal education. We are wondering if there is any national data about the number of students interested in museum education, or the number of undergraduate and graduate programs offered, and how this has changed over the past few decades. Also wondering if there is there any data about the number of jobs available in this field.

There are a lot of programs out there, and there are a lot of students of history that go into the public history field.

Not sure if it is helpful, but I once was involved in a project that did a survey of museum studies programs around the country. I have attached the excel sheet from that survey.
