  • 1.  Exhibition cases materials - your helpful experiences please!

    Posted 02-21-2017 07:01 AM

Hello everyone! We are working on the specs for the new exhibition cases for the permanent exhibition of the Archaeological Museum of the Pafos District, Cyprus. Our main problem is the material for the inner part of the exhibition cases! Until now, we have been using MDF and water-based color paints that have passed the Oddy tests, yet, these for periodical exhibitions.

We are a bit reluctant to use the MDF-ZF for the permanent exhibition, however (as always!) there is an issue on the cost of the cases if another material should be chosen! We have also researched about FOREX, alucobond, anodized aluminum panels etc.

What do you think? What are your experiences?

    Thank you in advance!

Hi Maria , my name is Christopher Smith from the Baker museum in Naples, FL, we usually use Benjamin Moore paint which is 1oo percent v.o.c. and and wrap it with Marvelseal 360 - Protect against moisture &oxidation damage‎ than use a muslin wrap. I hope this works out for you and good luck

    Thank you Christofer!

We have searched for the Marvelseal 360. Have you used it? Our concern is whether to use this to cover the MDF-ZF (plus paint with no emissions), and the result of this process, and if it will be the same (cost and aftermath) with another product that will not need to be processed in so many different ways.

What do you think? Thanks again!

A product that is basically MDF but lighter weight and more cost effective is Tru-Pan.

Specific to the interior it can be lined with Di-Bond and all seams filled with 100% silicone.

Di-Bond is specified as an approved product for interior casework by the Smithsonian, please see attachment for more details.

    Good luck!
