    Hello
I'm looking for vendors and or services for audio descriptions for videos. What vendors or services have you used?
    Thanks

If the project is complex, such as a full audio description tour, speak to Joel Snyder at Audio Description Associates.  https://audiodescribe.com/  and on Facebook.  Otherwise you cannot go wrong with the National Captioning Institute for captions or audio description, https://www.ncicap.org/audio-description.

    Cheers,

    Hi Sandra,
Are you thinking about transcription services? There are services where you upload a video and out spits the transcription. I use Happyscribe for this and love it, but there are others that do the same work. Look for a "lifetime deal". If you have the patience you can find one where you don't pay by the word or minute or month. Happyscribe isn't offering their lifetime deal anymore, but if you like I can send you a link to Appsumo and we both get $10 off our next purchase. I am NOT affiliated with them at all. I've just bought a few lifetime softare deals there and love them.

    Good Luck,
    Matt

PS: I would have just posted the link to Appsumo to make it easy, but I didn't want this reply to look spammy.

    Hi Sandra,

I'd be happy to post an RFP for you on our site at no charge for you. We work with a variety of vendors in the museum and heritage sector to help them find opportunities and leads. https://museuminsider.co.uk/

We cover the UK and Europe, and have a strong presence in the US. I'm based out of Portland, OR.

Please let me know if you'd like me to post this opportunity for you: mandy@museuminsider.co.uk

    Best,

    Mandy

    Hey Sandra,

We've been using 3Play Media for videos. They've got good options for audio descriptions and extended audio descriptions. They will also do captions and transcriptions or align videos if you already have one. They work with some other services that can do translations using their system. if you're doing anything technical, I'd recommend having an expert in that technical area that is also a native speaker review their (or anyone else's) work.

The audio description voices are computer generated, but those are a surprisingly decent quality. You can also change up the voice easily and it allows you to make corrections or edits if a pronunciation is off without having to get the whole thing rerecorded. I lead a project that pumps out over 50 videos a year, so this has been a really nice option.

I have been using Temi with good success. I like the edit tools for transcriptions - especially for panel or multi-speaker events. I will say that the program is not great with English-speakers who have an accent.
