Are there any stats out there on attendance trends now that some places are reopening?  What are others experiencing for indoor venues?

Jamie, I am a food service consultant that works with museum clients across the country. Several of my clients have re-opened and the very consistent number I am hearing across the board is 15-20% of attendance as compared to this time last year. Hope that is helpful.

We've been open for one week and have seen around 70 visitors per day, which is pretty typical of our past summers. Our opening day was closer to 200.

Hi Jamie, globally we're seeing around 20% of normal in the first few days of reopening and it definitely varies depending on what type of venue you are. In outdoor venues like zoos, we see around 50% of normal visitation. There is a 5 - 15% uplift in visitation recovery in the first few weeks, so if you reopened with 20% of normal visitation, you could expect to be getting around 35% by the end of your first month of reopening. Angie, Chief Executive @ Dexibit, and I discuss the trends we're seeing in this video if you'd like to learn more.

We are a small local museum in the Dallas, TX suburbs, and saw decent traffic when we reopened in June with modified days/hours.  Not our normal summer numbers, but more than we expected; we were between 25-30% of normal, so on track with what others are saying.  Since the week of July 4, we've seen a marked drop in attendance; this could be not just because of the holiday week, but also because of the spike in COVID numbers in our area.

    Hi Jamie,
My museum clients, coast-to-coast, say return attendance (and/or planning for return attendance) is running about 10% of same time last year FYI if that is helpful.
Hope this is helpful and this includes some presidential library client comments.
    Best regards.
