  • 1.  Sample Written Language -Covid Positive Employees

    Posted 11-17-2021 03:37 PM
    Hello,

Does anyone have sample language for a protocol to  follow when an employee tests positive for COVID? We want to be mindful of privacy and confidentiality as required by the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), but also are interested in if other organizations have any written practices for what to do when an employee does test positive so that we do not neglect a duty of care. Thank you.

This is  the language that is used by HR at my museum:

    Hello,

I wanted to let you know that earlier today (Wednesday, November 17) we were notified that one of our Workers had tested positive for COVID-19. We have acted quickly and are taking care to complete the appropriate actions. We are following the guidelines in our COVID-19 Preparedness and Response Plan and directives issued by the CDC and Kent County.

    • The Worker who tested positive is in self-quarantine. They will be allowed to return only after they are no longer infectious according to the latest CDC guidelines and they are released from the quarantine.
    • We have investigated to determine Workers who were in "close contact" to the infected person (Someone who was within 6 feet of an infected person for a cumulative total of 15 minutes or more over a 24-hour period starting from 2 days before illness onset (or, for asymptomatic patients, 2 days prior to test specimen collection) until the time the patient is isolated.). If we obtain information that identifies a "close contact", we will direct that person to follow the appropriate CDC guidelines.
    • We have identified the areas of our facility that the infected person contacted and will perform a disinfection and deep cleaning consistent with CDC guidelines.
    • We will notify the Kent County Health Department and follow any further instructions or guidelines that we receive from them.

We are not asking you to take any additional actions at this point. Please continue to follow all of the behaviors required to reduce risk of COVID-19 and other policies listed in our COVID-19 Plan. Know that we take your safety very seriously and we will call you if we have reason to believe you have had "close contact" with someone who has tested positive for COVID-19.

If you have any questions on our COVID-19 Plan or current guidelines and procedures, please contact your immediate supervisor or a member of the COVID-19 Task Force.

    Thanks,
