Hi Sarah-
In the end it all comes down to your budget line. In general, we pay $150 for a 1-2 hour program. Try looking into Speaker Bureaus near you. The Detroit Historical Society might be someone to reach out to, they have an established Bureau at $250 charge for nonprofit, $400 for corporate, and a $50 discount if setup by a museum member.

Subject: Honorariums and Speaker Fees
The education depart for my museum is looking to develop a fee structure for honorariums and speaker fees. I have looked through the threads and have not found a lot of information so I thought I would start a new post. I am interested to see what other institutions pay presenters and speakers for lectures that you host. For example what would you pay someone to come in and give a hour talk either virtual or in-person. Does this differ if the person was part of a day long program with other presenters or just had a table with information. Also what do you charge when you go to other museums or out in the community to give lectures. Thank you in advance for taking the time to answer my questions.
