Motorcyclepedia has 85,000 square feet on two floors of exhibit space and limited staff/volunteer presence during hours of operation. The monitoring cameras are placed to track guest movement throughout the museum. We need to add better monitoring of exhibit items, particularly the motorcycles on display (we currently have close to 650) as well as the memorabilia (over 3000 pieces). When the museum is closed, the security system has motion sensors and a series of physical barriers to prevent theft, but those safeguards are disarmed during hours of operation making it possible to touch items in the exhibits (we have the exhibits stanchioned off and signage asking guests not to touch in place) and/or remove items through emergency exits. What works best in your facility? Any suggestions/advice would be greatly appreciated.
