  • 1.  CMHR LGBTQ2+ Controversy: 3rd Party Report Analysis

    Posted 08-07-2020 10:40 AM
    Dear colleagues:

Those wishing to follow up on the Canadian Museum of Human Rights (CMHR) efforts to address issues arising from its staff members' experiences at work with racism, homophobia, sexual harassment, & discrimination can gain access to the full interim report by an external reviewer via the most recent blog post by the author linked below (Thistle 2020).

Beyond 10 Findings & 44 Recommendations, also included in the commendable openness of the CMHR are: i) the Board of Trustees' response to the Report & ii) a resource appendix titled "Anti-Racism Course of Self Study."

In his review, your blogger also identifies what appears to be a significant gap in the analytical approach of the interim Report & makes a strong recommendation for additional analysis to be presented in the final report currently under development.

    Respectfully yours

Thank you for sharing the report. It will help all of us in museums reflect on how listening can be better incorporated into practice and how we can move towards being the organizations we want to be- committed to equity, anti- racism, inclusion and transparency.
