Suggestions for management trainers

  • 1.  Suggestions for management trainers

Does anyone have recommendations for trainers to lead workshops on management topics (delivering feedback, collaborating across lines of difference, time management, inspiring/motivating your team, etc.) ?  Also looking for individuals who lead diversity, equity, access and inclusion trainings as well. We welcome your suggestions!

As an academic I strongly urge you to contact your local university/college with a business and/or hospitality school as the management courses we teach in these programs tend to cover these topics and the faculty are expected to be responsive to local organizations needing access to their expertise.

    Cheers

I suggest taking a look at the latest information -- posted yesterday, 2 June 2020 -- regarding cleaning with regard to the COVD virus. That group is focusing upon opening museum facilities, so that should be a big help to any of us in that regard. Much of the latest information is about cleaning, rather than disinfecting, since so many disinfectants are not suitable for use on historical materials, but I will refrain from passing along my own conclusions, when those from the NPS are clear enough.

    Hi Laurie!

I suggest looking into NYU, Columbia, Teachers College, and CUNY diversity offices. Diversity and inclusion offices usually have staff members that lead diversity and inclusion trainings for members of the university community, but they also may do tailored trainings for businesses and nonprofits.

    Best,

    Laurie,
I would recommend Anne W. Ackerson. She is currently an independent consultant to cultural and educational nonprofits, specializing in leadership, governance, and management issues. Anne also facilitates the Leadership and Administration online course for the American Association for State and Local History (AASLH), and presents on leadership and gender at the History Leadership Institute. With Joan H. Baldwin, she is the co-author of Leadership Matters: Leading Museums in an Age of Discord, a book examining history museum leadership for the 21st century (now in its second edition); and Women in the Museum: Lessons from the Workplace. Anne is also a co-founder of the Gender Equity in Museums Movement (GEMM), which is focusing its recent efforts on education, advocacy, and policy development around pay equity, salary transparency, and sexual harassment in the museum workplace. You can read more and find her contact information here http://www.museumstudy.com/about-us/instructors/anne-w-ackerson/
