    Greetings, colleagues

Our museum is reviewing the nature, frequency and specifically the types of content that we generate on our Social Media platforms (primarily Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter).

With an eye toward a more explicitly strategic approach, and in anticipation of new staffing that might be managing our posts and tweets.

As Director I'm feeling responsible for providing a new social media staff member with a more coherent sense of what we value in these realms, how we want to present ourselves, etc.

In a word (if it may be the right lexicon): have any of you developed Social Media GUIDELINES or other frameworks which shape your social content, that you can share?

    Many thanks,

    Robert Saarnio

    Robert,

There are SO many social media content templates and strategies out there that are too numerous to share here. Once you start looking, you'll maybe feel overwhelmed by how many resources there are to help you. One of my favorite sites is Social Media Examiner. You can start there and then you'll see templates, calendars, infographics, webinars, etc. to help you define your strategy.

    Good luck!

    Hi!

I've spent the last several years developing Social Media Guidelines and Strategies. In my case I've been working primarily with science programs (like EarthScope and IRIS) as a social media manager (I have a PhD in Geology and am now doing informal education) but I'd be interested in your thoughts on how my guidelines could be applied to a museum social media presence. I'm happy to share what I have if it would be helpful to you, and I'd also be interested in getting your thoughts. Shoot me an email!

    Thanks,

    Wendy
