At the Fort Collins Museum of Discovery, we have a couple different tactics we use. If possible, we'll collect photo/video release forms from participants (we typically do this for workshops, classes, or scheduled photo shoots with a specific group). If we are capturing candid action in the gallery, we have a sign that informs visitors the museum is
photographing or filming for promotional purposes, that that if a visitor would prefer not to be part of promotional materials, they should see the front desk. If this happens, our front desk staff can provide the visitor(s) with a sticker to wear to signal any videos they are included in should not be used. We typically have several signs, one at the front desk as well as one or two in the gallery where the filming is taking place.------------------------------

Subject: Posting video of visitors
We have a new space called "Pioneer Playroom" that is a huge success. Parents complain that they can't get the little ones out to go home. They can dress-up, milk a cow, set the table, etc. Has anyone posted video clips of visitors enjoying themselves in the museum? Do you need permission? Would a sign saying that some video may be posted online suffice? Any thoughts?
