  • 1.  Website platforms

    Hello museum friends,

First, my apologies if this topic has already been addressed recently. For the past decade or so we've worked with a local tech company that hosts our website. We have administrative access to change most, but not all, aspects of the website through a content management system. I'm starting to wonder if the cost of editing our current/old system is more expensive than switching to a new platform. For example, what prompted this was us inquiring about the possibility of adding discount code capability.

If you do use an outside platform (as opposed to a fully in-house department), would you be willing to share what company or platform you use? Where things get tricky for us is we have online store, tour reservation, donation, and membership modules, in addition to a behind-the-scenes document portal for our board members. If you think a one-size-fits-all platform isn't likely to handle most of that anyway, then that's also helpful to know and we'll aim toward upgrading what we have.

Many thanks in advance for any advice you can provide.
