Yes, I'm talking about exhibition labels. Between special exhibitions, rotations, events, etc... we make between 4,000-5,000 object labels a year. We've got our templates for uniformity, but the switch from Quark to InDesign is looking like it's going to be an "interesting" transition, which is why I'm putting this out there.

We also use PastPerfect but do not export information. I use InDesign and work directly in whatever document I have set up according to exhibit needs. We print small things in house, but send out to a large-format printer for the big pieces.
You don't, by any chance, mean catalog labels (or something like that) rather than exhibit labels?

We're using PastPerfect as our database but I don't export information from it to make labels. My labels are more customized based on the big idea of the exhibit (objects can, after all, be interpreted from more than one perspective). I create all my graphic items, including labels, in Adobe Illustrator for either in-house production or sending out to a professional printer.

I'm wondering what software people use to create labels for their objects. We currently use TMS (The Museum System) as our primary database, export the label data to a text document, which is then imported in to Quark templates for production. In the next year, we'll be upgrading to InDesign and I'm wondering if anyone else uses both TMS and InDesign, and if so, how do you export your data?
Thanks!
