  • 1.  Use of animated digital signage displays for wayfinding

We are considering options for enhancing our wayfinding.  One suggestion is animated digital signage displays.  Which museums are using those displays or some version of them?  Many thanks.  Jon

COSI uses digital signage in multiple locations throughout our building--primarily for point of sale and marketing rather than wayfinding. We currently have 10 digital signage locations operating a total of 30 screens running on a Scala system. We installed the system in early 2015 and have been pretty happy with the results. We are continuing to add new signage locations in places where we previously had printed signs. However, it does take quite a bit of time to create create and update the content.

    Hi Jon,

One of the more effective uses I've seen recently for digital displays/touch screens for way-finding was at Historic Temple Square in Salt Lake City.

    Best,
    Keni

    Hi all,

I can't help but alert you all to the Videro System available from Edwards Technologies (ETI).  As a museum professional, I have been working with ETI for two years to introduce the wide benefits that this cloud-based system provides for a very wide variety of applications, including digital signage.  Panasonic are now working with ETI/Videro and new screens coming out this Fall will include the Videro System. Because of the way Videro has been developed, changes to content become extremely simple (and can be done by your team), it is highly cost effective, highly reliable and durable,  and it is a real leap forward in terms of using technology wisely and very smartly - ahead of the curve I would definitely say. Happy to tell anyone more so you can decide for yourself. Best of luck with your work, Audrey
