Does anyone know of any field-wide surveys of what security measures museums employ? As we look to update our emergency response and security policies, we wondered if other museums were including approaches such as metal detectors or bag checks at entranceways.

At our Museum, we have a strong security program which includes training for emergency response (Evacuations, Shelter In Place and Active Shooter) programs.  We also train and employ x-ray machines, scanners and magnetometers in order to establish a pace to enter the Museum and still provide security and safety.  Would be happy to connect you to our Division of Protection Services Director.  Dana
