Hello everyone!
I have just been put in charge of a committee to create Friend's Organization for our local museum and I was hoping to get some info and feedback about how other museums have created and maintained such programs. I have done some research and have found different ways to approach it.
Here some basic questions I have:
Do you have one core friends group or multiple groups?
What type of administrative structure do you use?
Do you charge dues?
What types of activities/programs do you plan?
What was your initial goal of the group?
Right now, my first instinct is to have one core group of friends, and as the group grows, have more refined groups; e.g, a friends group on local/area history, a fossil hunting group, etc. Our main goal is create a larger volunteer base, create more programs, and to overall promote the museum on a greater scale.
