    Greetings
Im a designer in Portland OR working with a museum that has large cases with basket artifacts, and other ephemera.
I want to create some lighting drama in the case and run up against Lumen restriction and every LED light track I find doesn't meet those restrcition (30 lumens for the whole case). Id like to NOT light it evenly, yet that seems the only choice.

Anyone run into this problem and how did you solve it?

    thank you
    alan

    Alan,

I've done some cases here at our museum but I had to use strip lighting and do generalized lighting.  That would be a challenge.  This may work for what you need but I'm not sure it would look right or how you would hide the wires.  12v LED strip cut in sections of 3 LED's, somehow mount each set in front of the basket angled slightly up - interconnect as many as you would need on one shelf to a dimmer to get your 30 lumens.  Good luck that will be a challenge.

I am in the Information and Audio Visual Technologies department at The National Infantry Museum and Solider Center in Columbus, GA.  We have a lighting solution I think may work for you.  It is a Luxam 10-523-OD light generator.  It has a 12volt 100watt MR16 (if I am not mistaking) bulb in the base until, from there it runs fiber optics out to your case.  We use these for low light cases with books and such in them.  Hope this helps, let me know if I can be of any more help.

    Hi Alan,

If you do a search for lighting designers in Museum Marketplace on the AAM Web Site you should easily find someone in the Portland area that can help you solve this issue.
