  • 1.  Presentation Collaboration Request

    Posted 08-28-2015 12:33 PM

Hi.  We are submitting a presentation "Revealing the Learning: Capturing Visitors' Stories" for the annual conference (2016). We hope to share multimedia and program strategies developed at our museum that elicit and record visitors' reflective narratives about their recent museum experiences.   We are looking for another museum that is also exploring how to employ narrative reflection and conversation as tools for enhancing visitor learning and/or for evaluating experiences.  If you would like to present with us, please contact us as soon as possible.  You can read our submission on the AAM site.

Making learning visible is a challenge for museums--how do we show what visitors are learning to both our stakeholders (including visitors) and ourselves?  Looking for approaches and studies at other museums.  We are exploring how visitors' stories, pictures, and videos  can deepen and reveal what they are learning.  Please let us know if you would like to collaborate on a session at the next annual AAM meeting. Our proposal is currently up on the site.  Happy to revise the write-up to include another approach.

    Rick,

For the last twelve years, Conner Prairie has been using remote microphones to record visitor conversations. These studies played a seminal role in the transformation of our mission and interpretive approach ten years ago, and are still being used to understand visitor response and learning.

We would be happy to collaborate with you.
