This is a question for your finance directors... does your center do a
mid-year adjustment to your Budget?

Our board has requested the we do a mid-year budget adjustment.  They feel this provides them with a better of idea of how the museum is doing financially.  It has worked well for the last several years.

Our Fiscal Year begins July 1st.   The budget must always balance.  In March we submit the budget for the coming year and a forecast for the end of the current year with necessary budget adjustments.  In November we submit a forecast for the current year with necessary budget adjustments.  This suits our seasonal/cyclical trends for revenues and expenses.  We also use annually adjusted monthly benchmarks for revenue and track expense lines against original budget.  I am not the finance director but oversee budgets for earned revenue, program grants and program endowments.
