Call for Advisory Board Members

Common Ground Publishing is excited about our new knowledge community, Tourism and Leisure Studies. The Tourism and Leisure Studies knowledge community is seeking applicants for the Advisory Board. The principle role of Advisory Board members is to consult on the overall intellectual direction of the conference and journal, reviewing community themes and reflecting on their role in relation to current trends and changes in the broader academic community.

Additionally, board members provide insights and suggestions on conference speakers and venues, while also helping to foster future collaborations and thematic partnerships. Board members may also serve as Editors of the journal series.

To apply, please send us your CV and a statement of interest by 30 August 2015. Applicants will be notified of the result of their application by September 2015.

Call for Journal Editors

The Journal of Tourism and Leisure Studies seeks an editor, or team of editors, for a one-year term. This is an opportunity to make a significant contribution to a group of leading journals and, more broadly, the conference and book imprint associated with the journal.

The roles of the editor are to:

Suggest a special theme that might become a panel at the conference, a special journal issue, or an edited book.
•
Select papers addressing the special theme and compile them in an edited book to be launched at the conference at the completion of the editor's term. The chapters may be drawn from submissions to the journal during this or recent years, and other material as considered appropriate.
•
Suggest plenary speakers for the conference, preferably from the conference locale, and also to contribute papers to the journal.
•
Recommend the journal to your colleagues; solicit submissions from members of your professional network.
•
Serve as an advisor for the selection of the International Award for Excellence and the papers to include in the Annual Review.
•
Maintain a significant presence within the community via social media (e.g. via Facebook, Twitter, Community, and our website and monthly e-newsletter).
The editor will be offered a complimentary electronic subscription to the Journal of Tourism and Leisure Studies an electronic subscription to the book imprint, and complimentary registrations to attend the conferences at the beginning and end of their term.

1. A cover letter outlining their interest and relevant experience
2. CV
3. A suggestion for a special theme with a paragraph explanation or outline.
The deadline for applications is 30 August 2015.
