To colleagues,
I know that the subject seems odd, but bear with me.
For reasons of confidentiality, I will be vague.
I am currently negotiating, let's say discussing with the administration, of what historically has been called a museum for decades,
but has never had traction as a viable museum, has never been organized, and has no chance of continuing
without some expert guidance. It is a history museum, with a collection of outstanding artifacts.
I am a historian myself, and my work and research concerns artifacts in museums.
Currently I am trying to convey to the principals that what is needed foremost is a contextualization of the museum
in a historical narrative.
So, what I am seeking is any reference materials or suggestions along these lines which may help sell the simple idea
that one needs to have an organized approach. I am thinking,
"Museum for Dummies" type information.
Any suggestions and replies are appreciated.
