  • 1.  LOBBY RENOVATION / info sought

    Posted 12-04-2014 11:42 AM
    Colleagues,

Refining (though broadening) my post of Nov. 19 which was specific to reception / admission desk sourcing.

Can you refer me to any museum that may have undertaken a re-design of its Lobby (Reception / Admission area) - - existing building renovation (vs. new construction).  Block Museum at Northwestern is one example alone that I'm aware of.

    Deepest thanks,

    Robert

Check the Bailey-Matthews National Shell Museum on Sanibel Island, FL. They did a redesign of reception and museum store recently.

    Thanks! Hello, Robert!!!!

We completed a renovation of our lobby/front desk/store one year ago. I'd be happy to talk with you about it.

I think the John Michael Kohler Arts Center did a wonderful job (in 2000) adding a new lobby/reception area that contains the admissions desk and connects new gallery spaces, older gallery spaces, performance space, sculpture gardens, and a historic home. Here is a photo looking out from the entry. This link shows an image of the lobby/addition from the front. http://www.jmkac.org/index.php/visitor-center
