Our museum has a diverse set of collections, including a historic library and archive, zoology and natural history collections, as well as a sizable photography collection. We are looking to add a rapid-capture digitization station to digitize our 2-dimensional collections and small 3-dimensional items, including photos, ephemera and archival documents. We would prefer "face-up" scanning and want to avoid using a document feeder.
We are particularly interested in hearing from those museums that have diverse collections.
- What equipment would you recommend for a rapid-capture digitization station?
- What vendors have you used?
- What is the practical throughput per day for this type of equipment?
- How many staff members are needed to operate the digitization station and to handle any pre- or post-processing in a day?
- Does the station come with workflow software?
- What DAMS are you using, if any, to manage your image library?
Thanks.
