Greetings to all. I have been enjoying the wide variety of topics that everyone posts. As one of my many hats, I am an attorney in Houston, Texas, specializing in Entertainment Law and Intellectual Property. I teach a variety of workshops at the Glassell School of Art with the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston. Over the past few years, I have taught "How to Start Your Own Art Business", "Museum, Gallery and Exhibition Law" and "The History of Art Through the Legal System" where I follow the sequence of legal cases that have shaped, for better or worse, the development of Visual Art both in the United States and around the world. This coming semester I will be teaching a workshop on the "Lost Art of the Holocaust" and the following semester, will teach "Fakes and Frauds - How Scientific Techniques Uncover the Truth". I wanted to be sure everyone knew about grants that are available through the CFDA, Catalog of Federal Domestic Assistance, from the federal government. Authorized by the Museum and Library Services Act, (20 USC, Chapter 72), there are 2 that might be particularly pertinent to many on Museum Junction. 1) No. 45.309 - Museum Grants for African American History and Culture, and 2) No. 45.301 - Museums for America. There are numerous organizations, federal as well as private, that can, and want to, provide funding for a variety of projects in an effort to assist American Museums. You should check them every 3-4 months or so just in case the perfect one pops up. Good Luck. ------------------------------------------- Stephan Wexler MD, MLA, MBA, JD Houston TX -------------------------------------------
