    Dear All,

    Hope all is well!

We are preparing for the opening of Governors Island in two weeks. There has been many pretty dramatic changes, including some directly affecting our visitor services team. We decided to experiment and go completely mobile with our visitor services - our teams will be roaming the island on several preset routes instead of being mostly in information tents.

We are brainstorming about the best way to equip them. They wear uniform T-shirts and have to carry a few 3"x8" map brochures, pens, possibly other printed materials and their wallet, phone, water bottle. Do you use visitor services friendly pouches or compact cross-body bags or other carrying devices for your on-the-move staff?

Any tips will be greatly appreciated. Come visit us on Governors Island this summer!

    Best,
    Sarah Fisk

    Hi Sarah,

We have roving volunteers throughout our museum. Some of them use a bag we ordered online and had embroidered with our logo:

Port Authority® Mini City Messenger. BG750

Congratulations on the opening and good luck this summer!

At Naples Botanical Garden, all of our volunteers wear green aprons with our logo. The aprons have two large pockets in front to carry whatever they need for the job. The aprons make the volunteers easy to spot by our visitors. And the the volunteers really are attached to their aprons. Hope this helps.

    Hi Sarah,

Our VSA's use backpacks for roaming campus during interpretive shifts as well as during school tours, which we assist with. Our Marketing team ordered us waterproof drawstring backpacks with giant logos on the back. We fill these with brochures, self-guided adventures, binoculars, etc. We keep a locker full of bugspray, sunblock and outdoor supplies, since we roam throughout the summer. Not sure what product they ordered (can ask if you'd like) but it looks similar to this: Promotional Kinetic Cinch Backpack, Item #BK-1201 -MARCO Promos

    Heavy-duty and waterproof!
