In light of the changing security landscape related to mass shootings I’ve initiated the process of lobbying senior management in an effort to win approval for purchase and installation of a walk through metal detector. As a part of this effort, I’ve reached out to a number of colleagues here in the DC area to determine:
- If other cultural institutions in the DC area currently have metal detectors in use, and;
- If other cultural institutions in the DC area are presently considering such measures
The feedback (and interest) I’ve received has been significant and very helpful. However, I’d like to reach a broader audience for feedback in order to get a more wide-ranging perspective on enhanced access controls in cultural institutions relating specifically to magnetometers and/or x-ray machines. I’d be pleased to post the metrics I develop and other relevant results to the forum for other interested participants to review.
