Our library gallery has the vertical display area covered with linen stretched over oak panels.
Unfortunately several years ago a volunteer used museum wax to adhere labels to the linen.
We have tried every gentle technique and even called in a dry cleaner to try his hand. His fear was
if he cleaned too vigorously the patch would appear cleaner than the wall.
Can anyone suggest how to remedy this without replacing all of the wall surface/
