    Hello everyone!

Travis Kirspel and Janet Vaughan at AAM suggested I join this group to look for museums who have celebrated anniversaries for my new book Interpreting Anniversaries and Milestones at Museums and Historic Sites. I have a contract with Rowman & Littlefield to write this book as a resource for museums and other institutions who are planning anniversary celebrations, based on what has worked at other museums in the past.  My definition of "anniversary" is quite broad -- it can mean the anniversary of your organization, but it can also mean the anniversary of your building, some aspect of your mission (D-Day, Hurricane Katrina, etc), or something else entirely.

If you are interested in participating in my research, please send me an email at curator@mckinleymuseum.org.  Chapters of my book include:

    • Signature Events
    • Programs & Tours
    • Fundraising Campaigns
    • Exhibitions/Books/Documentaries
    • Audience Outreach and Community Involvement
    • Preservation Projects
    • Partnerships
    • Commemorative Products and Souvenirs

Participants in my research so far include Smithsonian National Museum of American History, The Andy Warhol Museum, The Imperial War Museum, Mackinac State Historic Parks, Woodrow Wilson House, the National Corvette Museum, Stan Hywet, Cincinnati Preservation Society, the Fort Wayne Children’s Zoo, and several others. Most participants have preferred to do this online, so I have a set of interview questions all ready to go!

    Thank you in advance!

    Sincerely,

    Kim Kenney
