    Hi All,

I'm wondering if anyone has experience with a Rental or Sales Gallery within their respective museums, as a source of earned income. I know there are a few institutions that have such entities and would like to learn more about how they function. I appreciate the input!

    Thanks,

    Elizabeth

    Greetings, Elizabeth.

They most definitely can become a revenue line item and not just a perk for members or a attendance booster.

Do you have a separate gallery already established or are you thinking of clearing space to create one?

There are many facets that can be pulled together to make it a very rich experience for you.

    Hi Elizabeth -

Yes, we rent the museum as an event space in the evenings and it generates a significant income. We also have a few smaller meeting spaces that we rent during daytime hours. Most of the other museums/institutions in our area offer their galleries as event space as well. It's great tool to share with your corporate sponsors/partners in addition you can target the social event market (weddings, reunions, fundraisers).
