Building construction costs are driving project footprints to be smaller and smaller, leading many projects to consider collections going onto higher and higher shelves or racks. In my current work with history, art and natural history museums, the same question continues to be asked: What are other museums doing to retrieve their collections? How high are they storing them? What equipment are they using? What training is needed? How do others avoid the risks? What does this mean for using volunteers and students?
I would appreciate your response to these questions, description of your retrieval issues, any photos of equipment being used or recommendations. Please feel free to re-post this on other listserves - I will share your responses in a future posting and perhaps in the AAM conference in 2016.
Thanks,
