Hi Dana, Great topic! Our publication Next Practices in Art Museum Education includes several veteran program examples, including Hot Shop Heroes from the Museum of Glass (which may be familiar to you since you're in WA), which uses glass making as therapy. http://bit.ly/1klL7li
A few other examples off the top of my head: The Saint Louis Art Museum hosts veteran-led tours each year on Veterans Day. http://www.slam.org/news/?p=893
Echoing Lesa's comment above about the Honolulu Museum of Art programs - last year their director , Stephan Jost, was on the NEA's podcast, where he talked about the museum's close relationship with the huge military community in Hawaii. I loved this interview:
http://arts.gov/audio/stephan-jost Not sure if it is still going on but last year the Frist Center in Nashville offered free memberships for military.
I believe the Minneapolis Institute of Arts also has an art therapy program for veterans suffering from PTSD.
Good luck! I would love to read your thesis when it is done - this is a topic that is near and dear to our hearts at AAMD.
Cheers,
Alison

Subject: Programming for Veterans in Art
Hello everyone,
My name is Diana Klein and I'm a Master's Candidate in Museology at the University of Washington. For my thesis I'm examining museum programs that serve veterans, particularly in the fields of art and art therapy. I've found a variety of programs, but I'm sure there are some I haven't heard about. I was hoping this group could send me a list of any programs involving veterans and art of which you're aware. Thanks in advance for your help!
