Survey of Universal Design at Museums

04-26-2021 06:40 PM

Good day,

I am an Assistant Professor in the Occupational Science and Therapy Department at Grand Valley State University. I am leading a research project titled: “A Survey of Universal Design Principles at Museums: Current Industry Practice and Perceptions.” The purpose of this study is to identify how universal design is being applied at museums in the United States. The results of this study will inform re-design efforts at the Grand Rapids Public Museum and be disseminated through publication.

We are seeking volunteers to complete a 15-minute electronic survey. To qualify for this study, you must be employed at a museum located in the United States and have direct knowledge of policies and procedures related to accessibility. If you have any questions, please contact Dr. Jennifer Fortuna, Assistant Professor in the Department Occupational Science and Therapy at (616) 331-5485 or fortunje@gvsu.edu. Your feedback and support of this study is greatly appreciated.

Sincerely,

Dr. Jennifer Fortuna, PhD, OTR/L

Hello Fortuna, just fyi, you might be interested in checking out the Fall 2015 issue of the journal Exhibition (published by the National Association of Museum Exhibition and AAM), which focuses on universal design. Here is a link--enjoy!
