    Dear All

What is the best thing about presenting at the AAM conference? I am going to be on a panel at the conference for the first time. I am looking for any insight or something gained for the experience. The season will be on the Thursday from 1-2. It is called Building Lasting Connections: ways to engage with the alliance. I look forward to your responces.

    Thanks,

    Rachel

The best things about presenting at the AAM conference are connecting with panelists from across the profession and getting feedback from the audience. But those opportunities can also apply to many other aspects of the AAM conference. The most lasting impact as a presenter is the opportunity to learn that the session had an impact on attendees in the ways that they could think about their jobs differently and/or provide the tools or moral support to carry them out. We as museum folks, perhaps especially at small budget institutions appreciate networking with each other.

An even bigger question is: how much fortitude does AAM have to nurture connections? Does AAM envision its role as more nationally focused support system (that influences national trends and lobbying efforts, etc.) or does it see itself as a more individual-member focused organization that helps individuals and smaller institutions reach each other?

    Thanks for the question!

    Dear Ellen

Thanks for  the insight. I am both sure it will be available experience and that I am nervous. I know that doing this type of engaging is worth it.

    Thanks again,

    Rachel
