Conversations with Change Makers: Sealed Frame Package Research at the Image Permanence Institute

The AIC Sustainability Committee is excited to be speaking with Jennifer Jae Guttierez, Executive Director of the Image Permanence Institute (IPI), as part of our free Change Makers Webinar Series. She will be discussing IPI's emphasis on sustainable conservation practices, including current research on sealed framed packages. This is a follow up to a conversation we had last month with three people who have extensive and varied experience with microclimates: Michael Cataldi of Paradise Framing, Mike Dunphy of Small Corp, and Laura Gaylord Resch, Assistant Preventive Conservator at the Cleveland Museum of Art.
The Change Makers series focuses on reducing energy consumption in buildings where collections are stored, studied, and exhibited. Microclimates have been used as a tool for protecting sensitive items in a collection when temperature and humidity set points are kept at less stringent standards than a flatlined 70F, 50% RH.
