As part of a multi-year exhibition and community-engagement project, Transformations: Contemporary Artists at Winterthur, my museum is bringing the work of contemporary artists and makers into the galleries and garden at Winterthur. In many cases, the works are by local and regional artists and craftspeople who are engaging with our collections through our Maker Creator Fellowship program. The installations celebrate the continuing inspiration provided by Winterthur's museum, garden, and library collections.
There is interest in providing a venue for the sale of these artists' works (pieces that have been exhibited at Winterthur and other works that have not been exhibited) through our museum store. I would appreciate hearing from colleagues whose institutions have similar programs and specifically about how you are managing policy and practice around the post-exhibition sale of works (owned by the artists), whether in the museum store or through other venues.
