Calling artists, scholars, educators, and other humanities practitioners! Are you passionate about the public humanities and have a unique community-focused event idea?
The National Humanities Center invites you to submit event proposals for the 2026 Being Human Festival (US), a public humanities initiative designed for diverse, non-academic audiences across the United States. Events for this year's Festival will take place from April 18 to May 2, 2026, and will be organized around the theme of "Between the Lines."
Successful proposals will receive modest grants and other forms of support from the National Humanities Center. All proposals must be received by November 5, 2025. For more information, check out our application portal or email Jacqueline Kellish at public.engagement@nationalhumanitiescenter.org with questions.
Please also share the attached PDF flyer with your colleagues and peers who might be interested in this opportunity.
