  • 1.  Recommended Calendar Software?

    Posted 04-07-2025 09:10 PM

Hi all, my team is looking for an events software (for internal use) to hold our public and private events, exhibition runs, building closures, etc. We currently use Outlook for this, but want something more robust and better designed for file sharing, staffing, a calendar with multiple venue locations, etc. Has your team had a successful experience with a software like this? Thanks in advance!

    We use google calendar.
You can have multiple calendars, share calendars, have locations, attach files, send invites, etc.
I have my work calendar tasks color coded as to different projects/tasks. I have also created several calendars if I am working on a specific project.

I also use Toggl to track projects I am working on. It is great to be able to know how long I spend doing routine tasks as well as specific projects. I use it solo so I don't know about its collaborative features. Toggle does link with my google calendar.

There are several project planning tracking software out there.

We also use Google Calendar with one for internal scheduling and one for events and another for volunteers. You can see all or just one. You can also set up scheduling to send people a window of "appointment" options to choose from. This helps cut down on the back and forth when are you available emails and phone calls. You can do that with Outlook as well.

We use Brightly right now, because it integrates with Outlook and the software we use (Dude Solutions) for work orders.  I cannot recommend it as a complete answer because it has limitations, but it works fairly well for keeping track of rentals, events, installations, etc. and what needs to be done for those events by different people.  It doesn't work well for a Master Calendar, but we can use a shared Outlook Master Calendar for that.  We used to use Google and it worked well, but then our state decided that Google was evil and limited our access to it (we are a state agency so have to follow state procedures for things like that).

    Good Luck!
