    Dear All

What is the one unexpected thing you did not think you would encounter or learn while working in a museum? I did not think I would find myself cleaning glasses for the study table at the museum I did an internship at. I look forward to stories and in-sights.

    Thanks,

    Rachel

Too many to recount, but as an example I didn't think I'd develop a skill set for Urban Integrated Pest Management.
    Actually won recognition!

haha every day I think about new things ive encountered!!! One of the most unexpected things to come from working at a (historic house) museum is that regularly carrying collections items up and down three stories of stairs has turned out to be a great unintentional strength building workout!!! :D

    Dear Hanna

That sounds great. Historic houses are an interesting cross-section of museum work.

    Thanks,

    Rachel

I would say that Pest Management is one thing that was never on my radar before working in a museum. I would have never guessed that I would learn to identify so many different bugs.

    Dear Chelsea

I understand; I had not thought about pest management before I was in grad school in museum studies. I now understand how even a bouquet can cause havoc in a museum.

    Thanks,

    Rachel
