Shaping the Future of Your Community: The Intersection of Museum Practice with Urban and Regional Planning

What do affordable housing, environmental justice, climate resilience, economic development, transportation, historic preservation, and greenspace accessibility have in common? They are all the responsibility of urban and regional planners. Hear from Betsy Loring, who explores museum-planning collaborations in her blog, the Planning-Curious Museum Person.  She'll discuss projects that include art, social science, placemaking, and climate action. And she'll show you that you probably have a planning-relevant project or two in your pipeline, ripe for collaboration.

Betsy Loring, the Planning-Curious Museum Person is founder of expLoring exhibits & engagement. She has over 20 years' experience in project management and interactive exhibit development in multidisciplinary, indoor and outdoor museum settings. She has worked at the EcoTarium, Museum of Science Boston, and Massachusetts Audubon, and served as project director of the Environmental Exhibit Collaborative. Special interests include multi-institutional collaborations, peer-to-peer professional development, and of course – collaboration with municipal planning practitioners.
