The city owned museum discussion made me wonder if there are other sites like where I work. We are a partnership between the National Park Service and Preservation Virginia. The Association for the Preservation of Virginia Antiquities (now Preservation Virginia) bought the 22 acres of the original site of Jamestown in the 19th century. The NPS then bought the area of the rest of the island and created the Colonial Parkway in the 1930s. We became partners and PV took over the ticketing aspect in the early 21st century. So we are in an interesting situation in that the building that houses Visitor Services (I am the Manager of Ticketing) is owned by the NPS. We have pretty severe restrictions when it comes to signage etc. I'd love to talk to anyone else who is also in this situation. I know there are a handful of other NPS sites that are co-run with non profits. Are you here?
