Has your museum raised admission costs?

    Hi all,

In preparation for 2023 budgeting, we are considering raising our admission costs. For context, our Museum is 501c3 and receives a little bit of operational funding from our city, but not much. We are mostly reliant on admission fees, Museum store sales, event rentals, etc to balance our budget. We are in Kansas and our admission costs are currently in the $8-10 range.

Obviously, inflation and COVID have put a big strain on our budget. We want to help our staff salaries keep up with inflation but need to balance the budget to do it. We are looking to get an idea of what other museums are doing as far as admission prices. We are obviously very concerned about the economy being able to support any admission increases.

    Big Questions

    • Has your Museum changed admission costs in the past year?
    • Have you done any other things to help balance the budget on the revenue end?
    • If you have raised admission, how has it gone for your Museum?
