Recent federal actions send a clear signal: any organization – from a world-class museum to a local arts nonprofit – that champions diversity, truth, or dissenting ideas could be next on the chopping block. Our task is to link arms across institutions, communities, artists, and museum professionals. Culture is not a luxury – it is the lifeblood of democracy.
· Moderated by Randall Packer, Artistic Director of Zakros InterArts and founder of the Third Space Network in Washington, DC.
The public dialogue features four leading cultural voices:
· Paul D. Miller aka DJ Spooky – New York composer, remix artist, author, and creator of large-scale international multimedia projects.
· Michael Sakamoto – Interdisciplinary performance artist, educator and scholar, and director of programming at UMass Fine Arts Center.
· Linda Klieger Stillman - Former Chair Emerita of the Kennedy Center Circles Board, Alfred Jarry scholar lecturing & publishing on tyrants in literature, theater, and the visual arts.
· Barry Threw – Director of Gray Area, a media arts incubator and performance/gallery space in San Francisco.
