  • 1.  Custom Storm Windows for Historic Homes

    Posted 09-11-2023 12:51 PM

Does anyone have a good source for measuring / creating / installing storm windows on a historic home? Our house is from 1834 and all the windows needing storms are Palladian / Italianate (curved at top) style. I've discovered one company, but they only produce based on measurements - they don't measure or install.

Also curious what a custom storm window might cost. But my priority is finding the vendor. We're located in the Southcoast - Massachusetts - so someone in that area would be ideal!

Hi Dawn!  My "other" family business is window restoration and storm window fabrication. We work all over the northeast. It is particularly useful when we work on museum projects to have me, the museum person, and my husband, the window person!

We just finished a custom project for Historic Saranac Lake in the Adirondacks. https://www.pressrepublican.com/news/windows-of-opportunity-trudeau-team-focuses-on-window-repairs/

You can also find additional storm window fabricators and installers in your area at The Window Preservation Alliance.

Happy to talk windows anytime! Good luck with your search!
