Hi,
I am a new member and I'm excited to be a part of this great network. I have been a patron and benefactor of a particular unknown artist by the name of Lee Harvey Roswell for many years. I've sold his original oil paintings in my gallery from time to time. I live in Lahaina, Maui and my gallery has burned to the ground in the recent fires.
Lee is a true artist in that he is compelled to express his unique viewpoint in his paintings rather than what he thinks will sell. Consequently, he doesn't sell well. His art belongs in museums, in my opinion, because it is the quality of a master artist and it's very relevant. It breaks my heart to see him struggle just to have a roof over his head and some food. This economy is not kind to artists like him.
I wonder if anyone has a suggestion for him. I have a large collection of his work that I'm willing to donate to a museum that would be willing to exhibit his work. His themes are dark but show his sense of humor and reflect the times we live in. I look forward to your responses.
Thanks,
Donna
