  • 1.  Alternatives to wristbands

    Hello all,

    I feel like this same thread pops up from time to time, but I couldn't find one to reference, so here we go! 

    We are looking into and for creative and less wasteful alternatives to wristbands to I'd entity guests who have already checked in and allows them to move freely in and out of our museum. We recently hosted a community clean up near our museum and found several of our own wristbands! That's not the kind of advertising we want.

    Stamps are too easy to wash off, stickers are even messier. 

    We were wondering if anyone has had any success with a reusable pin or metal tag option. Or if there's another creative option you would recommend.

    Good Morning!

    Thanks for restarting this thread. 

    You have to keep in mind the type of site for various organizations.  With my location, ANOTHER pin, would only serve to frustrate the team as we currently have a plethora to watch for; as well as the magnetometers that would possibly alert due to the metal.  So, I'm open to hearing and suggesting any and all alternatives.  

    We currently utilize stickers AND paper tags (dependent on entry point), and yes, they are just as prevalent with regards to clean up.  I've also utilized wristbands in the past, and completely agree on their waste issues.

    Let's see where this goes. . .  Good luck!

    Hello Cory!

     

    Glad you are trying to brainstorm other options and I'll be interested to hear the suggestions people make. I would say don't discount stamps, though; just place them where they are less likely to get washed off. At the county fair here it's placed in about the middle of the forearm and there is rarely a wash-off problem. And if you make the stamp fun/visually interesting, you could even ask if kiddos would like it on their cheek or forehead like face painting (with parents' permission of course).

     

    You might even do something like a suite of designs and/or colors which would both differentiate the day and could offer incentive for repeat visiting by doing something like a passport booklet in conjunction. (You could lean into the fact that you would not want to advertise your rotation by promoting it like luck-of-the draw to collect them all).
